‘La Bergerie’ is a charming hotel-restaurant situated on the edge of the medieval village of Aragon, at the foothills of the Montagnes Noires (Black Mountains), only minutes north of Carcassonne, in the Languedoc-Roussillon, South of France.
Priscilla and Fabien Galibert, related to the owners of the well-known Le Parc restaurant in Carcassonne, transformed an old sheep fold (hence the name La Bergerie) in 2004 into a hotel with 8 spacious rooms, pool and restaurant.
‘La Bergerie’ is nicely and peacefully located in a unique setting, overlooking the Cabardes vineyards and woodland.
Young chef Fabien offers a traditional and creative cuisine with great food and it was no surprise in 2009 when he was awarded a Michelin star.
The restaurant is welcoming and well decorated with a luminous ambiance. The setting and decoration of the tables, both inside as well as on the terraces, is wonderful and there are superb views to be had. Above all the impeccable and friendly service, guided by Priscilla, combined with the delicious food and excellent choice of wines, many of them from the Languedoc-Roussillon, makes this restaurant so superb.
Their so-called ‘market lunch’ is highly in demand and very good value for money (only € 25) and includes a starter, main course, desert, coffee and a glass of wine. Dinner à la carte or with a set menu shows you why this restaurant is so popular and so well accepted in the Languedoc-Roussillon. It is advisable to book in advance.
Moreover, the journey from Carcassonne with its famous Cité via the village of Pennautier with its well known chateau and vineyards owned by the Lorgeril family, and further on through a stunning countryside, before arriving at Aragon, is already worth a visit to ‘La Bergerie’.
