It is clear that Fabien Reboul is passionate about wine and he pours this passion into bottles labled ‘Pourquoi Pas?’ (Why Not?), ‘Esperance’ (Hope) and ‘Un Peu De Toi’ (A little bit of you) among others.
He studied viniculture for ten years and travelled the world, finally settling at the foot of the Pic Saint Loup in Languedoc Roussillon, South of France, to produce his remarkable wines.
The vines at Château de Valflaunès are aged about 40 years for the Carignans and Grenache with the rest aged 2 to 15 years.
There are eight grape varieties : Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Roussane, Marsanne, Vermentino and Shiraz.
Behind each of the names of his wines lies a little tale. For example, the AOC/AOP – Languedoc white called POURQUOI PAS ? - Why not? - is so named because in 2002, when the first vintage of the roussanne-marsanne was being bottled, Fabien became a father for the first time. He wanted to call this wine PREMIER PA - ‘First Dad’ - but when he asked all his friends and family what they thought, they each told him couldn’t call the wine that and offered an alternative, to which he replied ‘Why not?’ and in order that he not upset anybody, he called the wine that instead.
The list of awards and medals given year after year are testament to the quality of the wines produced by Fabien.
